Mayor Hannemann visits Vegas, Baby!
The Honolulu advertiser reports “Vegas monorail seen as model“. Mayor Mufi Hannemann visited Las Vegas where he met with Transmax Group officials who were responsible for funding the $650 million price tag of the Las Vegas monorail. Hannemann was quoted as saying, “The private sector participation in the system is overwhelming. I came away with ideas on how to encourage and entice public-private partnerships to finance Honolulu’s mass transit system.” It is encouraging that the mayor is looking towards innovate ways to get the funding needed. The Las Vegas monorail has its trains completely covered in advertisements, even on the inside. This picture shows the green door which was used in a Mountain Dew ad campaign, I believe.
