Rail Seen as Eyesore

University AvenueThe Star Bulletin reports, “Rail line renderings ring alarm bells“. Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi questioned, “Why does it have to be so ugly?” when shown renderings of a possible idea for the look of the monorail. What does she expect? The criticism seemed to be the fact that concrete structure supporting the rail is an eyesore. I don’t know how she could possibly look at the image and criticize the rail; the first thing that comes to my mind is the telephone wires and the patchy asphalt. I think regardless of what the rail system will look like, I think it can only be better than seeing an increase of smog on our island.
