Hawaii Monorail

The Star Bulletin reports, “Rail line renderings ring alarm bells“. Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi questioned, “Why does it have to be so ugly?” when shown renderings of a possible idea for the look of the monorail. What does she expect? The criticism seemed to be the fact that concrete structure supporting the rail is an eyesore. I don’t know how she could possibly look at the image and criticize the rail; the first thing that comes to my mind is the telephone wires and the patchy asphalt. I think regardless of what the rail system will look like, I think it can only be better than seeing an increase of smog on our island.
